Course-Specific Local Rules – Pietarsaari Golf

  1. Gravel roads and paths on the course: Free relief without penalty, Rule 16.1b applies.

  2. Blue-and-white staked areas: These are maintenance areas where play is prohibited. If your ball is in or touches the area, or if the area interferes with your stance or intended swing, free relief must be taken according to Rule 16.1f. The stakes marking maintenance areas are considered obstructions.

  3. Ant hills on the course: Considered maintenance areas. Free relief without penalty, Rule 16.1b applies.

  4. Out of Bounds stakes between holes 2 and 3: Apply only when playing hole 3. Out of bounds stakes are immovable obstructions and relief may be taken according to Rule 16.1. When playing hole 2, the stakes are immovable obstructions and relief may be taken without penalty under Rule 16.1b.

  5. Trees marked with orange tape on the course: These are immovable obstructions; play is prohibited from these areas. If such a tree interferes with your stance or intended swing, free relief must be taken under Rule 16.1f.

  6. Stone walls and piles: Considered immovable obstructions. Rule 16.1b applies.

  7. Markers and measuring stakes used for hazards: Considered immovable obstructions. Rule 16.1b applies.

  8. Practice greens around the clubhouse and the green beside the path from hole 1 to hole 2: These are part of the course. On competition days, practice on these greens is allowed as part of the tournament.

  9. Power lines: If a ball hits a power line (excluding poles), the stroke must be replayed.

  10. Hole 13 – hazards: If it is unclear whether the ball has entered or is lost in the hazard, a provisional ball may be played according to Rule 17.1d.

  • If the original ball is found outside the hazard, play must continue with that ball.

  • If the original ball is found in the hazard, it must be played from there, or continue with the provisional ball.

  • If the original ball is not found or identified within three minutes of search, play continues with the provisional ball.

Penalty for breaching a local rule:

  • General penalty: Stroke play: two strokes; Match play: loss of hole.
